Case History: Land Registry
The Role of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds
There are two separate systems for recording transactions in relation to property in Ireland :-
The Registration of Title System operated bythe Land Registrysince 1892. The Registry of Deeds System operated by the Registry of Deedssince 1708. Therefore, the core business of the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds involves examining legal documents and related maps and recording their legal impact on the registers and maps. It includes the registration of title for the first time, the registration of subsequent transactions, the recording of deeds and the supply of evidence of title and a comprehensive range of associated services.
Such activity calls for a skilled and experienced staff. Equally, as property issues become more prevalent in our day to day lives, the role of the Land Registry – becomes even more valuable.

FLEXIBLE WORKING HOURS AT THE LAND REGISTRY & RESGISTRY OF DEEDS
The organisation has been a customer of FlexTime since 1982 and just like dozens of our other customers, has moved through the various generations of our Systems since then.
2002 has seen a big change in the organisation’s approach to managing flexitime, with the move to VTWeb. Now staff key in/out & look up time and holiday records at PCs in their several Dublin Offices. All updates to time and absence records are now electronic.Their Waterford complex, where 200 staff are working, is also “on line” to our innovative Web System.
The Land Registry set as a major requirement that the system could record overtime – so that a file could be produced for their payroll Department to process.
So, overtimeRecording is also activated at local PC’s, by staff clicking on a special overtime function button at the VTWeb Screen. The System automatically takes the employee offflexi recording and ontoovertime recording, as soon as the overtime function button is used.
GENERAL CONCLUSION
The overall automation saves considerable time for the central administrators when compared with the earlier technology. With the aid of VT Trend - the trend analysis output in VTWeb, allied to the almost self–service nature of the System - it is now profoundly easier to manage the overall usage of the flexi concept. This is particularly important given the new flexibilities in terms of working time arrangements, which have been agreed in recent times within the Public Services and becoming much sought after in the private sector also. Thus, from now on staff in general will want to exercise these new and agreed “time options”, such as job share, work share, term time etc. This ought to be more complex to manage. However, another crucial aspect of the System design, is that the advanced software programmes in VTWeb, are allied to increasing “input” functionality for staff, specifically to automatically cater for such these new “time options”. In addition, VTWeb automatically recognises - differing flexi carryovers, diverse flexi periods & any “shape” of day - and for each person, if necessary.
