Multitime Launches new software to assist with new Flexible Working rights

Right 2 Request -  The New "Flexible Working Rights" Software From MultiTime

MultiTime has now released a software programme called "Right 2 Request" which is designed specially to assist managers in coping with the ramifications of the new Flexible Working Legislation.

Managers receiving requests typically are concerned about aspects like:-

  • Does this request I'm getting from John Smith make sense?
  • What if I say No to his request - can I show that I have considered it properly?
  • What will ACAS think?
  •

Now with our "Right 2 Request" software programme, you can test in advance what affect each request will have on your workplace.

The programme also shows how you have properly considered each request.

Background:

Under this new workplace lawfrom April 09, parents in the U.K., of children aged 16 or under, or disabled children under the age of eighteen (Working parents), have the right to apply to their employer to work more flexibly. The request can cover

  1. Hours of work
  2. Times of work
  3. Place of work and may include requests for different patterns of work.

Employees must make the request in writing and employers have a statutory duty to consider the request seriously and to refuse it only if there are clear business grounds for doing so. When your employees make an application they have the right to be accompanied at the meeting by a fellow employee.

The 2007 Work and Families Act also introduced a new right for carers of adults to request to work flexibly. A 'carer' is defined as an employee who is or expects to be caring for an adult who:

  • is married to, or the partner or civil partner of the employee; or
  • is a near relative of the employee; or
  • falls into neither category but lives at the same address as the employee.

The 'near relative' definition includes parents, parent-in-law, adult child, adopted adult child, siblings (including those who are in-laws), uncles, aunts or grandparents and step-relatives
